Meet Javon Brame:

 A Catalyst for Change and Community

 

Who Am I? Consultant, Philanthropist, Educator, Change Agent, Anti-Racist

Born and raised in the vibrant state of Colorado, Javon D. Brame, MA, hails from the heart of Northeast Denver, Park Hill. From a young age, his parents instilled in him the values of leadership and the responsibility to give back to the community.

Javon is not just an advocate for social justice; he's a dynamic change agent who thrives on collaborating with individuals, groups, and organizations to drive strategies that uplift marginalized and minoritized communities.

 

Educational Journey

His journey through higher education reflects his commitment to leadership. He earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree in English from Langston University, and his thirst for knowledge led him to achieve a Masters of Arts in Higher Education, with emphases in Leadership and Organizational Change, and Diversity in Higher Learning from the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver. During his academic pursuits, Javon took on various leadership roles, including serving as the student body president, solidifying his passion for higher education.

 

Impactful Career

Javon's career in higher education began in 2006 at Fort Hays State University, where he worked in the office of admission. Since then, he has worn many hats in the higher education landscape, from the office of the president to student affairs, institutional advancement, development, student life, student activities, housing, TRIO, and academic advising. He most recently held the position of Associate Vice President and Dean of Students at Arapahoe Community College in Colorado.

Currently, Javon serves as a Senior Optimization Executive and Engagement Manager at CampusWorks, Inc., an international higher education technology consulting firm. In this role, he leads engagements with colleges and universities to develop and implement strategies that enhance institutional effectiveness and elevate the student experience.

 

Philanthropy and Advocacy

Javon's commitment to advocating for others extends into the philanthropic and non-profit sectors. He has worked closely with organizations like the Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado, the Denver Foundation, and Denver African American Philanthropists. He aims to redefine philanthropy by giving his time, talent, treasure, and testimony.

He proudly serves as a founding advisory board member for the Black Resilience in Colorado Fund (BRIC) and the AYA Foundation. Javon is also a board member for Catch a Star Academy and YouthRoots. He recently joined the Black Arts Collective at the Denver Art Museum.

 

Community and Professional Engagement

Javon is actively engaged in various community and professional organizations, including the Urban League Young Professionals, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and many more. Recently, Javon worked with the Collaborative Healling Initiatitive in Communities (CHIC) to launch Education Justice for Black Coloradans to provide scholarships to Black Coloradans to pursue postseconday opportunities. He has also supported the Justice for Black Coloradans work leading to Colorado Senate Bill 53 to conduct a racial equity study for Black Coloradans.

 

Recognition and Passion

Javon's unwavering commitment to his work has not gone unnoticed. He was recognized as the "Rising Star" by the Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado in 2013 and received the Leadership in Inclusive Excellence Award from the University of Denver in 2015. He was also honored as the 2021-2022 Arapahoe Community College "administrator of the year." Most recently, Javon was recognized by the Denver Urban Spectrum as one of the “2024 African Americans Who Make a Difference”.

In his spare time, Javon indulges in his love for reading, writing, and exploring the world through travel. He firmly believes that every individual should find and surround themselves with their own personal "success entourage" to support and guide them in discovering their true destiny.
